This fun and funky quilt is my own make! From a challenge to flip to page 45 in any publication as inspiration for a design, this quilt was born.
I thumbed through many, many books and magazines, seeking something to spark creative juices. When I landed on page 45 of Irene Roderick's book, "Improv Quilting", I knew this was going to be a fun journey! Page 45 features skinny strips, made into skinny strip log cabins.
For colour inspiration, I used a photo of one of my favourite garden flowers, this peachy daylily.

Loading this photo into Steph Skardal's "QuiltySolid" mobile app, it pulled this delightful palette.
Off to the races on colour and design, stacks of log cabins with peachy skinny log cabins were created.

This is my view on the longarm.
This was definitely an improv exploration, with wonky angles everywhere.
Puzzled together, the composition delights my eyes.
Quilted with the digital edge to edge design, "Funky Flowers" by Wasatch Quilting.
The quilting thread is Glide "Apricot Blush". Batting is Arctic's Cotton/Bamboo blend. The backing is a beautiful, flowing "Fluidity" from P&B Textiles.
