This client quilt from maker Angelina is a One Block Wonder. It is one of her earliest quilts!
Quilted with Karlee Porter's digital design "Sitara - Peacock", the texture is fabulous.
My view - the quilt on the Innova M28 longarm frame.
The One Block Wonder process uses six repeats of a swath of fabric, carefully aligned then sliced into triangles. These sets of six triangles are sewn together to make half hexie pairs. Then the design work begins! The half hexies are arranged on the design wall to build long rows, with the pairs of half hexies lined up. There are no y-seams in this quilt, only straight lines!
These triangles create a kaleidoscope effect. They are magical! So many cool designs result.
A feast for the eyes!
The back features some of the original yardage, and the beautiful shapes of the digital design add magnificent texture.
For this quilt, we used Hobbs Black 80/20 batting and Glide thread "Oriental Blue" - a bright, deep blue. The quilt is about 60" x 70" and has more than 70,000 stitches from my Innova M28.
