Linear

There is so much I love about this quilt!  This was created in the long form class I took with Maria Shell called "Promptopia".  This is an amazing class!  Each month, Maria provided a new prompt to spark some original improv work.
Here is my work on the frame.
The prompt was "A Line Walks Into A Bar".  The prompt includes a design concept and suggested colour palettes.
This colour palette has sixteen colours plus four neutrals.
Eight of the colours are in the outer column, a different eight in columns 2 and 4, and all sixteen in the middle.
Everything is improv, ruler-free cut, except for the skinny skinny strips in the wedges.
For the quilting, on a quilt like this I would often choose to colour match.  This time, I went with Monopoly!  And I LOVE it!
Two layers of batting, with a base layer of Quilters Dream 70/30 for stability and on top a layer of Quilters Dream Puff for loft and dimension.
Had tons of fun with a variety of geometric stitches in the stacked outer columns.  Columns two and four have spinning geometric designs in the wedges.  The middle strips have simple outlines to let the colours shine.  The background stitching is ruler-free matchstick quilting.
I was (still am) working through a creativity black hole.  I think I just need to rage quilt to offset my anxiety about the horrors happening in our world.

I absolutely love Maria Shell's classes!  Her style is magnificent, a celebration of improv piecing, patterning and bold colour.  Her teaching style is wonderful, thoughtful and caring.
