Road Trip 2024

We have just returned from an epic road trip!  Our youngest and her husband are currently living in Colorado, one of our favourite places to visit.  We packed us up and our middlest, and off we went. Made it through and past Chicago traffic to stay in Moline IL the first night. Blasted across the midwest on I80, with the required stop at the World's largest truck stop.
There are a lot of fun trinkets at this truck stop!
Second day I digitally waved to my MQG Mini Swap partner from Lincoln NE and stayed in North Platte NE.  Lunch stop was somewhere, but apparently, nowhere?
The farmer in you never goes away - we love seeing the ginormous fields and irrigated crops.
Some really cool wall art along the way.
Our first visit was to the Garden of the Gods.
Next up was a delightful brunch at the Bacon Social House in Littleton CO, where we absolutely enjoyed the flight of bacon!
Then we headed up to Mount Blue Sky.
It was wet and windy at the top but got some glorious rainbows!

On the way down, we encountered this herd of goats.
More rainbow - both ends!
Next day we head off to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Dipping her toes in the cold mountain stream.

These cute lil guys crossed the road in front of us - we didn't get a photo of the momma but these two kits followed her.
Next up was The Million Dollar Highway, Hwy 550 to Dorango.
As promised, there were steep grades, narrow roads and steep dropoffs, as well as a couple tunnels through the mountains.
Magnificent scenery, even in the rain.
