Client Quilt - Hawaii Wedding

Seriously, how amazing is this thing we do?!!  This glorious 86" square quilt is a wedding gift for the maker's daughter's friend, who was married in Hawaii.  The centre of the quilt is a fantastic Carpenter's Star.  The quilting request was to include Hawaii themed elements, and to not stitch densely.
Wikipedia defines Hawiian quilts: "Hawaiian quilt is a distinctive quilting style of the Hawaiian Islands that uses large radially symmetric applique patterns. Motifs often work stylized botanical designs in bold colors on a white background."  In this quilt, that 'radially symmetric design' makes its appearance in the quilting.  The design featured in the larger background squares feature pineapples.
The smaller background square features symmetrically repeated palm trees.
Hibiscus flowers fill in the white border.
The corner background areas have a digital design called "Diamond Medley", with beautiful echoed loops that also create hearts in the centre of the design.
Sea turtles fill the background triangles.  One of my favourite areas is the orange border above, with random diagonal lines to create geometric crosshatches.
The outer border is a simple double-line beadboard to frame the quilt, and extends into the first orange border,  The maker used this same design in the matching pillowcases she created.
The orange Grunge areas of the Carpenter's star has clean lines, changing direction with the orientation of the shape, creating nice movement.
The orange print areas have a spiraling diagonal line design.
That palm tree design is crisp and fun, with rings formed in the repeated designs.
The area between the turtles and the orange border received simple arcs, imagining waves in the ocean.
The sea turtles are all swimming into the Carpenter's Star.
The backing matches the print in the Carpenter's Star.
