This beautiful bargello quilt is a wedding quilt. I really love the magnificent colours selected for this quilt - reddish purples, yellows, greys, low volume, stripes, black. They all work together to create movement and interest.
The border is a combination of solid strips and pieced bits.
I just love bargello quilts - the bits of beauty in the fabric, the flow from different strip widths and from subtle (or not!) colour changes.
Just so pretty!
The back is a grey solid-ish print, and the fuschia Glide thread and the dragonfly design show up really well.
It was a pretty windy day when I was taking photos!
I found this definition of the spirituality of the meaning of dragonflies, "In almost every part of the world, the Dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realization. The change that is often referred to has its source in mental and emotional maturity and understanding the deeper meaning of life." Pretty well suited for a wedding quilt!
This dragonfly panel was a quilted at the same time, with the same design, in a tighter density. Lighter thread (Glide Linen).
