Client Quilt - First Flake

This is "First Flake"!  The quilt is Michaelanne's from Stache Fabrics & Notions.  It's bold and minimal and modern and glorious!  The pattern is from Janae Shearer.
For the quilting design, I added digital snowflakes in the red background and surrounded them with movement.  Lots of ruler work!
The rulers used on this quilt are my favourite straight ruler, from Quilters Apothecary, a beautiful wave ruler from HandiQuilter - "Wave D", and one of Lisa Calle's Quilters Groove rulers - the Pro Spine has a beautiful shape.  Both the Wave and ProSpine rulers have excellent markings to echo the curves.
A mix of lines and curves around the digital snowflakes created lots of movement.
A few pearls / snowballs were added between the echoed curves.
The white snowflake areas have a simpler design - each triangle is outlined, with a pointed arch.

This quilt has bazillions of seams at the edges.  Today's hot tip - staystitch 1/8" all around the edge to keep those seams together!  Once around the edge stabilizes everything while you're taking photos of your flimsy, giving it a final press, right through the quilting process.

Thread - Hab 'n Dash Glide "Sulky" for the red and "White" for the white areas.  So Fine #461 Red for the bobbin and Glide magnaglide white for the white areas.
Batting - Quilters Dream 100% Cotton Select loft, white.
