Sound Waves

I'm totally in love with everything about this quilt!  It was a secret sewing project, pattern testing for @Tamarinis!  She updated her "Sound Waves" pattern to use gradation fabrics.  I didn't happen to have those on hand, and used my collection of pink/orange/yellow/purple batiks.
Check out Tamarini's pattern - it glows!!

Here's my version, basking in today's sunshine ...

This beauty got its start with some cottage quilting, auditioning backgrounds - flat grey ...
Or Moda Grunge "Pea Coat" ...
I liked the grey, but with the Moda Grunge, there is so much more interest.
Laying out the strips into sewing order ...
On to the Longarm quilting frame, with shadows playing with lines ...
Laying down texture with Lisa Calle's "Quilters Goove Proline 4" ruler - these lines are 1/4" apart.  Lisa has excellent videos on her site to show you how to use them.
These stitches laid down in alternating angles, created a luscious herringbone design.  Lighting makes a huge difference in how the stitching shows.  Plus, you wanted to see more angles, right?
The colour strips were stitched just inside the seam line.
Look how pointy these diamonds are!
Wrapping up this post ...
The back ...
Quilters Dream 100% Cotton Select loft, Glide #60 "Pacific" thread on the top, Magnaglide Light Grey in the bobbin.  Quilted on my Bernina Q24.  Pattern from Tamarinis - "Sonic Wave Gradations".
