London Modern Quilt Guild Quilt

I've been part of the London Modern Quilt Guild (Canada) since we moved to the London area.  This is a very fun and inspiring guild!  A bit ago, we challenged members to create a logo block - a block inspired by the logo for the guild.
Our logo was designed by one of our guild member's young adult - clearly a talented designer.  It's so fresh and clean, with motion and very modern.  The big logo block is one we have printed by Spoonflower.  Our members each get a mini version to use making our name tags.

Members were provided with a handful of solid fabrics in the guild colours, and boy, were they inspired!
This quilt will debut at the inaugural London Modern Quilt Guild Show, Sept 7 & 8 2019 at Grosvenor Lodge in London On.

Stars, trees, gradations, leaves, flying geese, applique hexies, sewing machines ...
Amazing pickle dishes, trilliums, stylized trees, lots of improv.
Our Guild President, Kristyn, pieced the top one of the guild days while we were enjoying a workshop.
With the variations in the blocks, I opted to quilt a simple undulating wave to add movement to the quilt.  This is a digital design that started with a single wavy line.  I have created a few designs from that one single wavy line, like this one where each line is offset just a bit from the previous line.

For the back, I pieced in the extra blocks - this amazing paper pieced butterfly was one of the very first blocks one of our new members ever made.  A new quilter - she's fearless!

Isn't this a fantastic block!  The shirt fabric and a few of the other fabrics in the blocks (here and on the front) were a coordinating set of Fat Quarters that one of our members (Sheilagh!) curated with one of our guild sponsors, Mad About Patchwork.

There are so many stories in this quilt!
