My youngest called today with very exciting news - she has been offered admission to the Masters of Arts program at University of Western Ontario, in Women's Studies.

Client Quilt - Bravo Indigo

This is "Bravo Indigo", created by an amazing client. She is a pretty new quilter and she has a fantastic artistic eye for colour and shape. She created this quilt as a thank you to a co-worker and friend. The "Bravo Indigo" pattern is from Caroline Greco for Michael Miller Fabrics - it is a free download. Here is the original colouration ... It's spectacular in the original and in my client's version, absolutely amazing! Here's the full quilt. In preparing to make this gift, she managed a conversation around finding out her friend's favourite colours - black, red and grey. The fabrics are very rich red and deep black solids, and one of Libs Elliot's Tattooed North, Charcoal Cobwebs. The geometrics in this print were inspirations for the quilting. Client Quilt: Stitch Happens

How fun is this quilt! This pattern by Kelli Fannin is available from Stache Fabric & Notions . This is a store sample and there are kits available! This will be hanging in Michealanne's new "brick & mortar" location - Stache Fabric & Notions, 211 King St, London ON. This is the old Novaks building. Here is Michealanne in her new shop window!! She loves meeting quilters - stop in when you're in the area, or plan a trip to see her. Her little shop is full of glorious colour. The "Stitch Happens" wall hanging was pieced by Anne Lyons and I did the quilting. It's back with Michealanne now for binding and you'll be able to see this in her shop. I wanted lots of loft for this wee quilt, so there is a layer of Quilters Dream 100% wool, topped by a layer of Quilters Dream 100% bleached cotton. The wool is a creamy colour and the cotton is white, so the top layer of white cotton will keep the colours in the quil...

Plaid-ish Wedding Quilts

Shortly after announcing their engagement, my son and his fiancée asked if I would consider making quilts for their attendants. As recipients of quilts themselves over the years, and subjected to many displays of new quilts as they were being made or just completed, they know my passion and the joy it brings, for the entire process of making a quilt. These are wedding quilts hanging on the clothesline in our back yard, where the wedding was held this past weekend. The beautiful bride made her entrance through the quilts. We selected the quilt design "Plaid-ish" from Kitchen Table Quilting . There are five quilts - they had two attendants each, and one for the bride & groom. There is Scots heritage on both the bride and groom families, so the quilt pattern seemed a perfect fit.
