Lena's Quilt

My daughter is heading to Germany in a few days, her university graduation gift. Yes, she is a lucky daughter - she has worked hard!

She is staying with Lena - an amazing student who came to our high school on exchange and has become good friends with my daughter, has come back to visit a couple of times and the two have kept up a strong long-distance friendship - hurray for the internet!

As a thank-you for hosting, this quilt is for her! We found out what her favorite colours are and the colours in her home, and I knew she is a fan of 'intense' colour. Plus, she is a very vibrant young lady.

The fabrics - in strips. The ovals were not 'quite' on grain - had to fussy cut and work off grain for these strips (yuck!).

On the design wall - which layout for the squares??

This quilt is done in the reversible quilting method - make the squares with the batting & backing, sash them together, bind & you're done! The squares are 15".
And the final result - front & back.
