Dragonfly Dance OBW

This One Block Wonder (OBW) was created with a panel - Northcott's "Dragonfly Dance".  Six panels are stacked, aligned and precisely sliced to create triangles.  These six idential triangles are arranged into hexagons and then arranged and sewn together into a beautiful new quilt.  There are *no* y-seams in this quilt, it is all straight-line sewing.

In this OBW, I added a seventh panel into the quilt.
The new technique I tried for this quilt was to blend some of the hexies into the panel.  This was accomplished by appliqueing half of the hexie onto the panel - matching it's other half at the edge of the panel. The arrows in the photo below show the appliqued half-hexies.

The back is part of the Northcott line - a wide back specifically featuring the same colours that are in the panel.  <shhhh - compare this backing fabric to the 'sky' in my 'Wind' creation - spilling the tea for y'all!>
Here is the quilt on the frame of my beautiful Bernina Q24.
This is the panel.
Glide 'Tabriz Orchid' thread glows in the quilting stitches.

The batting for this quilt is Arctic's 50% Cotton / 50% Bamboo - it has a beautiful drape and loft.
