Vintage quilts - what treasures they are! This one was hand pieced in a previous generation, and the client remembers aprons and dresses made from the fabrics in this quilt.
The plain blocks between the stars were a wonderful space to place some elegant motifs.
The stars were all stitched with continuous curves to ensure they were stable and secured.
I placed a layer of white muslin between the batting and the quilt top, to provide more stability and durability and ensure that the batting could not migrate through any gaps in the hand piecing.
The blocks between the stars each received a unique motif. In this flurry heart, with my Innova M28 with AutoPilot I was able to add echoes around the outer feathers to really define the design.
Many of the motifs are from Karlee Porter digital designs.
The shadows in this photo help capture the texture of the motifs.
This finished quilt is now laying on one of the beds in the client's family log cabin, ready for keep another generation warm and cozy.
The back shows some of the fantastic texture of the quilting.
My view of the quilt on the frame.
