Working with vintage quilts can be so amazing! This one had beautiful prairie points, so all of the quilting is freehand to ensure a nice, clean edge for finishing those prairie points. This quilt is from maker @blue_trillium_studio, who was refreshing three vintage quilts for her client.
My big, beautiful Innova M28 feels so good doing free motion work, it moves very smoothly.
This is the back of the quilt, the pale pastels let the feathers sing!
Lots of different feathers throughout the top, keeping the design flow.
The vintage gingham top is a blast from the past!
We added a layer of white muslin under the top for stability and durability and to keep any batting from bearding through the gingham.
Feathers, feathers and more feathers!
The prairie points are crisp!
Front and back shows the texture of both sides.
This quilt received Hobbs 80/20 (cotton/poly) batting, and we used Glide "Bone" thread. It's not quite pure white, so it's not a stark contrast with the gingham. The trilobal features of Glide really work well in a quilt like this to reflect the light and colour of the fabric it's stitching through.
My Innova M28 recorded almost 168,000 stitches in this beauty.
