Sunshine and Diasies

This quilt is "Sunshine & Daisies".  The blocks in the central part of the quilt are crated from a layer cake.  Stacks of the 10" pieces were slashed in the "Stack the Deck" or "Stack, Shuffle & Slide" method, with the yellow inserts.
The slash/insert blocks were created at a retreat in the fall, sewing by the windows with lots of sunshine brightening the day.  The borders are intentionally asymmetrical, to echo the wonky slashes in the blocks.
I've always been a fan of yellow/black and white combinations, and I love daisies!
The "Bubbly Flower" digital edge to edge design seemed a perfect fit for this one!
It's such a bright and happy quilt!
For the backing, I used a FabriQuilt's Leather-look Golden wide back.
This quilt was in the first batch of quilts delivered just before Christmas, for the London Cross Cultural Learners Centre - an agency here in London Ontario, a newcomer resettlement agency.  Our London Modern Quilt Guild has begun an initiative where our members are providing quilts (twin and queen size), where the quilts wrap the newcomers in a warm hug, and the quilts follow the newcomers to their new homes.  This makes my heart so happy to be part of a welcoming and inclusive community.

The digital design is "Bubbly Flower", adding even more flowers to the quilt! The design is from Nancy Haacke at Wasatch Quilting.

The thread is Hab 'n Dash Glide "Dijon", a beautifully rich tone that echoes the daisies and sunshine.  My Bernina Q24 recorded 172,612 stitches in this beauty!
