Client Quilt - Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth Full View

This amazing client quilt is just spectacular!  The design is a block of the month from Jaybird Quilts.

The quilting request was to have minimal stitching in the focal hexie designs, just to highlight them.  And absolutely no feathers. Lots of Stitch in the Ditch work, helping define the amazing piecing. I still had this hanging when the client came in to pick it up - that first glimpse of the whole quilt was a priceless moment!

Here are a few of my favourites of the block quilting.

Simple continuous curves always look wonderful.
Straight lines following the angles.
Sweeping long lines and curves in these half hexies.
Straight line wedges and an echoed channel.
Curves changing direction with each hexie.
This one is my very favourite!  Simple arcs bringing movement and flow.
This is the back of that block with the arcs, above.
The quilting in the background has log-cabin-stacked triangles and some arcs.

And the edges are also very cool!

The definition of the quilting is pumped up by a double layer of Hobbs 80/20 batting.  The thread is Hab 'n Dash Glide "Blizzard".  This was all free-hand and ruler work, on my glorious Bernina Q24.  There are just over 257,000 stitches in this beauty.  And yes, it is heavy!
