How fun are these funky owls!! This is a beautifully pieced client quilt, with the owls and their branches appliqued. Each raw edge was finished with a perfect zig-zag, every tiny little claw, nose, tuft of feather and beak.
The owls are lots of different sizes and styles, with so much personality. The side and bottom borders are a happy collection of greenery. The pattern is "Whoo Knows" by Sindy Rodenmayer - see her patterns at FatCat Patterns.
This quilt will appear at the Shedden Agricultural Society Quilt Show – AprilL 13 - 14, 2018.
To quilt this, I used a large wavy crosshatch, hoping for a 'windy' effect. On the greenery, I quilted a variety of designs - diagonals, swirls, ribbon candy, wishbones, feathers, arches, curves, leaves.
In the bottom corner, a quilted owl appeared ...
And the back! The back has a swath of crows in the middle - a nod to the crows that invade Chatham-Kent!
How lucky am I that I get to quilt these fun pieces - sew lucky!
The thread for this is Superior Thread's Omni - "Willow". It's a bright green, but it isn't very bossy and blends into the background quite nicely.
The Bernina Q24 counts about 109,695 stitches in this quilt!
