Client Quilt Cross

This beautiful, regal cross quilt has just come off my frame.

The purple sections were stitched in the ditch, and radiating rays were stitched reaching out from the cross.

The rays were anchored with a first scattering of white threads, and then I layered in more rays.  In the top section, "Whisper Yellow", "Apricot Blush" and "Dijon" colours were added.  In the lower section, "Dijon", "Amethyst" and "Wisteria" colours were added.  I was trying to emulate sunrise/sunset colours.

I find it so interesting that at first glance, the colours in the rays simply add dimension, they do not stand out and shout their presence.

** update:  I loaded this quilt widthwise so that the rays were all within one stretch of my frame.  For the lower portion, I marked the first diagonal with a strip of frog tape (behaves very nicely and doesn't leave any residue) to mark that diagonal.

The back ...

Glide thread was used throughout this quilt, in white, whisper yellow, autumn blush, dijon, amethyst and wisteria.  Love Glide thread!

As this is a wall hanging, and the batting needed to be white, the batting is Quilters Dream Puff - a very lofty polyester.  Works up wonderfully!
